About Me
My name is Huvanya Pillay and I am your Life Science and STEAM Teacher here at Ossie Ware Mitchell Middle School. I was born in Durban, South Africa where I lived for part of my life before my family moved to the US. IÂ love going outside or you can catch me on the water somewhere. Teaching is something that I have always been passionate about because you all are our FUTURE!!

High School
August 2006 - May 2010
I attended Hoover High School, where i spent my 4 years working towards an advanced diploma and preparing to become a Blazer.
Bachelors In Science
August 2011-December 2015
I attended the University of Alabama in Birmingham to work towards my Bachelors in Biology with a concentration in Marine Science. While at UAB I spent several months learning Marine Science on Dauphin Island. It was there were I truly feel in love with teaching and realized this is the path I want to go down.
Masters in TESOL
August 2016- May 2018
I received my Masters in Teaching English to Adult Learners at UAB. I spent 2 years teaching adult immigrants from different places around the world English. I graduated Summa Cum Laude at UAB.
Masters In Education
January 2019- 2021
Second master in Education at UAB.
